Choosing an IGNITE School: Glenunga, The Heights or Aberfoyle Park?

All three IGNITE schools use the same ACER assessment, so your child's preparation is identical whichever you aim for. But the schools themselves differ, and it is worth thinking about fit before preferences are locked in.

Glenunga International High School

Located in Adelaide's eastern suburbs, Glenunga is one of South Australia's largest and best-known public high schools, with a strong academic culture and the International Baccalaureate Diploma offered in the senior years alongside SACE. Its IGNITE cohort is well established and the school attracts high demand from across the city.

The Heights School

Serving Adelaide's north-east, The Heights is a Reception-to-Year-12 school, which suits families who value one continuous school community. Its IGNITE program has a long history and the smaller overall setting appeals to students who thrive with more continuity.

Aberfoyle Park High School

The southern-suburbs option, Aberfoyle Park offers the IGNITE pathway with strong wellbeing support and is the natural choice for families south of the city who want accelerated learning without a long daily commute.

How to decide

Think location first — a shorter commute compounds over six years. Then visit: all three schools run information sessions and tours, and the feel of a school tells you more than any website. Consider senior-school pathways (IB versus SACE focus), school size, and where your child's friends are heading. There is no universally best choice — only the best fit for your child.
